"It's one helluva trek, though. Be prepared." This can't be stated enough, especially the later on in the run you get. A significant portion of the path leading to the base is dirt, which means trees will grow and seriously hamper your ability to drive without constantly stopping to cut them down.
Piss poor, yea sure there are some weapons but nothing compared to the gun shop. The best stuff is the military clothing/backpack (and helmet) cause of the extra protection and carry weight. Now I didn’t stay long enough to make a base but food isn’t really there unless you clear out the dense forest and start a farm.

The military base sucks. Apart from the bags, the military base sucks hard. I just finished clearing the entire base and I was overwhelmingly disappointed with the loot I got. I went there when 4 months of in-game time had passed and reaching the base was a real struggle due to the trees and bushes growing on the road and blocking my path.
