I'm terrible at math, and I've been an electrician since 1992. Most of the time as long as you can use Ohms law, and remember basic load calculations you can do alright. Math is a part of it, sure, but it also helps to have a good sense of mechanical reasoning. Although I probably struggled early in my cub days learning how to bend emt.

Basically you do the ELT in high school, then 10 weeks at Camosun and the school district paid my first year tuition at Camosun. But if you’re in grade 12 already, I’d recommend the ELT program at Camosun. It’s self paced, so the more you do, the quicker you’ll be done. If you’re in Victoria, IBEW Local 230 is the union here. You work for a year, go to school, become a second year, work a year, go to school, become a third year, work a year, go to school, become a fourth year, work a year, go to school, and become a journeyman. I recommend finishing in the 4 years and not delaying becoming a journeyman.FYI I switched from nursing to engineering in school after 2 years, and actually found engineering courses easier than nursing. If you have a mathematical mind and like critical thinking, engineering courses will be much easier than nursing. You'll have to work hard but it's doable for sure.Electrical fitters don't have electricians licenses they get "electrical fitting endorsements" but these can be upgraded in 6-12months depending on the state.
